Karpur Gauram Karunavataram Mantra: Meaning in English and Hindi

 मंत्र

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारम् भुजगेन्द्रहारम् ।

सदावसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानी सहितं नमामि ॥  

Mantra

Karpūra-gauraṁ Karuṇā-vatāraṁ Sansār-sāram Bhujagendra-hāram |

Sadā-vasantaṁ Hṛdayā-ravinde Bhavaṁ bhavānī sahitaṁ namāmi ||

अर्थ

•कर्पूरगौरं: कर्पूर के समान गौर वर्ण वाले ।

•करुणावतारं: करुणा के जो साक्षात् अवतार हैं ।

•संसारसारं: समस्त सृष्टि के जो सार हैं ।

•भुजगेंद्रहारम्: जो गले में भुजगेंद्र अर्थात् सर्पों की माला धारण करते हैं।

सदा वसतं हृदयाविन्दे : हृदय अरविंदे का अर्थ है ‘दिल में’ (कमल के रूप में शुद्ध)। हृदय में सदैव (सदा) निवास (वसंत) करें जिस प्रकार कीचड में कमल रहता है |

भवंभावनी सहितं नमामि: मैं शिव और शक्ति को एक साथ नमन करता हूं |

हे कर्पूर के समान चमकीले गौर वर्णवाले, करुणा के साक्षात् अवतार, इस संसार के एकमात्र सार, गले में भुजंग (नागराज वासुकी) की माला डाले भगवान शंकर जो माता भवानी के साथ भक्तों के हृदय कमलों में हमेशा निवास करते हैं, हम उन देवाधिदेव महादेव की वंदना करते हैं और नमन करते हैं |

कमल, हालांकि पंकिल पानी में पैदा होता है, उसके चारों ओर कीचड़ का भी उस पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता है। इसी प्रकार भगवान शिव हमेशा रहते हैं प्राणियों के हृदय में जिससे उनपर सांसारिक मामलों का प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता हैं।

Meaning

•karpūra-gauraṁ : One who is as pure and white as camphor.

•Karuṇā-vatāraṁ : The person whose personality is the embodiment of compassion

•Sansār-sāram : One who is the essence of the world.

•Bhujagendra-hāram : The one with the serpent king as his garland.

•Sadā-vasantaṁ hṛdayā-ravinde : Hridayaravinde means ‘in heart’ (pure like lotus). Lord Shiva always (sada) resides (vasantam) in the heart (hrdya) like Lotus

Bhavaṁ : To the Lord

Bhavānīsahitaṁ namāmi : accompanied by Goddess Bhavani, I bow Parvati and Shiva.

One who is bright and pure white like Camphor, the true incarnation and embodiment of compassion, the only essence of this world, Lord Shankar with a garland of king of snakes (Vasuki) around his neck.

We worship and bow our head to the one who always resides in the lotus hearts of the devotees along with Mata Bhavani.

Lotus, however, is born in muddy water, even the mud around it has no effect on it. In the same way Lord Shiva always resides in the heart of creatures, so that no one is affected by world affairs.

•भगवान शिव की माता पार्वती से विवाह के समय स्वयं भगवान विष्णु ने यह स्तुति भगवान शिव की प्रशंसा करते हुए गाई थी।

भगवान शिव त्रिमूर्ति देवताओं में से एक है | महादेव को विध्वंसक के रूप में जाना जाता है और शंकर, रुद्र, भोलेनाथ, नीलकंठ के रूप में भी जाना जाता है| इस शक्तिशाली मंत्र का आरती के समय जाप किया जाता है | कहा जाता है कि इस मंत्र का जाप करने वाला भक्त आध्यात्मिक परमानंद महसूस करता है क्योंकि यह मंत्र उच्चतम क्रम में भगवान शिव की महिमा करता है | इस अलौकिक श्लोक के प्रत्येक शब्द में भगवान शिव की स्तुति की गई है और उनके दिव्य रूप का वर्णन किया गया है। इसके ज़रिए शिव जी से प्रार्थना की जाती है कि वे हमारे मन से मृत्यु का भय दूर करके हमारे जीवन को सुखद बनाएं।

Lord Shiva is one of the Trinity Gods who is known by Shankar, Rudra, Bholenath, Nilkantha. Mahadeva is also known as the Destroyer or the Transformer. This powerful mantra is usually chanted during the time of aarti. Devotee chanting this mantra feels spiritual ecstasy as this mantra glorifies Lord Shiva in the highest order. This verse describes the divine form of Lord Shiva and every word in it praises him. Through this verse, we pray to Lord Shiva to make our life pleasant by removing the fear of death from our mind.
